Radiology Technologist

The Radiology Technologist will use equipment and supplies necessary to image portions of the human body for diagnostic purposes.

The candidate must be available when needed Monday - Friday, between the hours of 7:00AM - 4:00PM, for 20 - 40 hours/week.
Performance expectations
Perform exams in diagnostic radiology, CT, and MRI.
Provide on-call weekly rotational X-Ray coverage after 4:00PM daily and 24-hour coverage on weekends and holidays.
Perform exams on male inmates of all custody levels.
Producing diagnostic imaging necessary for the requested procedures, rejecting and repeating work that does not meet established standards.
Determine patients' Radiologic needs by reading requests or instructions from physicians.
Explain procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation.
Perform TB screening chest exams as required by the Department of Justice.
Operate mobile X-Ray and C-Arm equipment in operating room, emergency room, urgent care, or a patient's bedside
Perform scheduled diagnostic X-Ray exams at all 3 complexes within Butner FCC.
Clean, disinfect, and prepare all equipment for use and maintain a clean environment for all work areas.
Utilize the Bureau of Prison's electronic medical records system, including proper documentation
Call reports/wet readings for all modalities.
Request assistance from custody and other departments to aid in inmate travel and escort within the Butner FCC.
Communicate with multiple radiologists and ordering providers.
Perform clerical functions as necessary; including, but not limited to, answering telephone/radio calls, filing reports and radiology jackets, burning CDs, etc.
POSITION Qualifications
Completion of a full-time training course of a least twenty-four (24) months duration (or the equivalent) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associate degree, accredited by the Joint Revenue Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), a Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiology, Computer Tomography, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Current Basic Life Support (BSL) Certification.
U.S. Citizenship.
Must pass pre-employment examination.
Designated and/or random drug testing required.
Background and investigation required.
English language proficiency required.

WORKING CONDITIONS, MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Long periods of sitting at a desk performing light physical work, including working at a computer terminal.
Light physical work involving bending, lifting and carrying up to fifteen (15) pounds.
Talking and listening to communicate ideas or requirements to individual staff members.
Visual acuity to listen attentively and accurately.
Ability to work overtime as needed to complete general responsibilities to meet the needs of the unit or corporation.
